Jay-Z's Roc Nation record label has inked a publishing deal with Warner Music Group's Warner/Chappell Music.

According to Forbes.com, the deal means that Warner/Chappell will immediately have the rights to publish Jay-Z's music dating back to 2008.  By the end of 2013, Warner/Chappell will be in charge of nearly all of Jay's music.

In a statement, Jay says one of the reasons he chose to sign the deal was his relationship with Warner/Chappell's music publishing executive Jon Platt.  Jay calls Jon "a man of extraordinary character" and "a talented executive with an ear for music."

Meanwhile, Warner/Chappell may be looking to keep things in the family.  The word on the street is that Platt is also trying to negotiate a deal with Jay-Z's wife Beyonce.
