Lil’ Jon says he's returning to Celebrity Apprentice for one reason to raise awareness about diabetes.

The crunk king says he originally refused producer’s requests to return to show, but re-considered after his mother’s diabetes came out of remission. He explains, “It made me say, 'You know what? Maybe I should go back to help bring awareness for friends and family of people with diabetes.'"

Lil’ Jon says he was also inspired to raise awareness about diabetes after watching Phife struggle with the disease in the Tribe Called Quest documentary Beats, Rhymes and Life. “I know Phife, and his struggle was he wasn’t taking care of himself while they were doing their thing in hip-hop. He lost a kidney, and his wife had to give him one of her kidneys. So [that] touched me."

Celebrity Apprentice All Stars, which also features LaToya Jackson, Omarosa and Claudia Jordan, will return to NBC on March 3rd.
