Nick King, East High's senior phenom, was named AAA Mr. Basketball Saturday at the Murphy Center.

King is a 6-7 University of Memphis signee, four-year starter, he averaged 24.4 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 blocks per game, shooting 62 percent from the floor and 82 percent from the line.

He was The Commercial Appeal's player of the year in 2012 after leading East to the state title and ends his career with more than 1,900 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Central's Nina Davis won the AAA girls award last week.

Also congrats to Central's Nina Davis! The 6-1 senior, who has signed with Baylor, was named Gatorade player of the year for the state of Tennessee! The award comes on the heels of the AAA Miss Basketball Award she won!
